About Erin
Erin Winick Anthony is a maker, writer, science fashionista, and science communicator.
She is the founder of science communication company STEAM Power Media which works to share the creativity in science and engineering, and help others tell their science stories. Erin has a B.S. in mechanical engineering and more than nine years experience working as a STEM communicator.
Erin previously worked as a science communicator for the International Space Station, serving as a storyteller for the science conducted aboard the orbiting laboratory, and a reporter for MIT Technology Review. From writing stories on station science for NASA.gov covering station science to running the @ISS_Research Twitter account to planning media activities around commercial resupply missions, she was deeply immersed in space science communications for more than three years.
Erin also leads many freelance and personal science communication projects, including creating science and space TikTok videos and Instagram posts to a combined social audience of more than 65K. Erin loves designing science and engineering inspired clothing. Her Perseverance parachute skirt even went viral in Twitter in 2021, resulting in her designs being purchased and sold by Startorialist. She is a huge proponent of the connection between STEM and sewing. She has partnered with a number of brands to create content including Dassault Systems, Curiosity Box, and Dr. Who HiFive Inventor.

Erin served as CEO and founder of Sci Chic from 2015-2020. The company created 3D printed jewelry that is inspired by science and engineering concepts.
As a maker, Erin has created everything from 3D printed wedding bouquets to Ms. Frizzle costumes. Her work has been featured everywhere from CNN Money to The Daily Dot to Inverse. She previously worked as a freelance science writer, space reporter for MIT Technology Review, and MIT Technology Review’s associate editor of the future of work. During her freelance career, she has written stories and scripts for Engineering.com, Beanz, SciShow, IEEE Potentials, Medium, and created a Computer Aided Design course for LinkedIn Learning.
